Kristian and Mimi tipped to win The Block

"I'm calling it early."

It’s looking highly likely that Adelaide newlyweds Kristian and Mimi will win The Block, after high-profile bidders Adrian Portelli and Danny Wallis both cast their votes for House 5 in the Domain Listings Challenge.

At the annual event, a buyer’s jury is invited along to cast their votes for their favourite house.

While the couple only received 27 percent of the vote in comparison to the winners Ricky and Haydn at 29 percent, it’s clear they have one of the more desirable properties on The Block this year.

Walking through the rooms that had been renovated so far, many voters complimented their spacious and creative floorplan as well as how they had used different timber elements in their design.

“I personally like House 5 just because the floor plan is a bit different than the others,” Adrian shared with the camera shortly after his walk-through.

“It’s a brilliant concept, and it’s going to be a popular [house on auction day]. They’ve done a fantastic job.”

When asked why House 5 was the “stand out” to him, Danny explained: “It’s bigger, much bigger.”

But the additional space to renovate with the time and budget given to them hasn’t been without its challenges, Kristian breaking down earlier this week as he became overwhelmed by the thought of the task at head.

Despite this, the young couple are still in good standing for the weeks to come thanks to the numerous cash prizes, vouchers, and items to display in completed rooms won from previous room wins and challenges.

From a $30,000 Wolf BBQ, $100,000 worth of furniture from Cammerich, and more – these additional items have certainly set them up for future success and helped them stay out of the red with their budget (at least for now).

So far this season Kristian and Mimi have won the main bedroom and walk-in robe (which was tied with Courtney and Grant) in week five, the second guest bedroom in week four, the guest bedroom in week two, and the guest bathroom in week one.

While they have suffered plenty of setbacks, viewers knew House 5 would be tough competition from the very first week, thanks to how positive the feedback was from judges.

“If they can continue this journey throughout, these guys are going to be extremely hard to beat,” Marty said at the beginning of the season.

“I’m calling it early because how they’re designing it, how they’re executing it, the craftsmanship, it’s very hard to fault.”
