With Thomas Markle unable to perform the fatherly duty of giving his daughter away on her wedding day, the question on everyone’s lips was who will step in to walk Meghan Markle down the aisle?
Now, it has been revealed that Prince Harry’s father, Prince Charlesm will walk Meghan down the St George’s Chapel aisle at Windsor Castle.
A statement from Kensington Palace confirmed the news.
It read: ‘Ms Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness the Prince Of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire at St George’s Chapel on her Wedding Day.
‘The Prince Of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms Markle to the Royal Family this way.’
In the week leading up to the May 19 nuptials, Thomas Markle, who was originally announced with the duty of walking Meghan down the aisle, pulled out after suffering a heart attack.
The statement read: “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.
“I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”
