German owned supermarket giant Aldi has lost the battle against Meghan Markle’s favourite makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury.
Aldi often produces ‘like brands, only cheaper’, but this time they have gone too far.
Make up artist to the stars Charlotte Tilbury produces some of the highest quality and fastest selling cosmetics in the world. Celebrities love her cosmetics, Meghan Markle is a huge fan of Tilbury’s ‘Very Victoria’ lipstick!
Charlotte’s nude lipstick in ‘Pillow Talk’ sells one every minute.
Charlotte Tilbury noticed that Aldi owned Lacura brand ‘Broadway Shape and Glow’ was “substantially” similar to her highly successful ‘Filmstar Bronxe and Glow palette.
Aldi’s beauty range Lacura has a cult following with shoppers loving the affordable cosmetics and skincare.
Over 20,000 units of Aldi’s knock off make up were sold before legal commenced in December.
A High court judge has sided with Tilbury who’s company ‘Islestarr Holdings’ and is set to recieve damages against Aldi.
“They (Islestarr) allege Aldi saw the success of the Filmstar palette and decided to copy features, so as to produce its own versions. Islestarr say (it) demonstrates Aldi’s ethos of selling lookalike versions of well-known brands cheaply to encourage footfall in their stores”, said Judge Deputy Master John Linwood.
The Aldi copycat Lacura retails for just $12.50, Charlotte Tilbury’s bronzer is $85.
