In a time when love only seems to last within the confines of a tropical island, one romance manages to live on.
While it’s no secret that Love Island Australia once set the record for the world’s shortest reality TV relationship with Tayla Damir and Grant Crapp, not every romance to come from the series ended in heartbreak.
Josh Moss and Amelia Marni have managed to defy all odds and are still together – a year after the show concluded.
Their relationship is heavily documented across Instagram, proving that the love between them is as real as ever (much to Grant’s surprise).

Recently, Amelia shed some light on their romance through a revealing Instagram post, confessing that it wasn’t as easy as it looked.
“It freaks me out to think that maybe I’m painting a false reality and setting unrealistic expectations of how relationships should be?! I’m just writing this as a little reminder that relationships ARE HARDDDD WORK,” she wrote in the caption of a sweet photo of the pair.
However, her grounded approach appears to have worked, because the couple have remained strong a year on.
“It’s been such an amazing year growing with this boy and learning how to share my life with someone else. And I am truely in love with him so the little tiney tiny tiffs are worth it,” she added.
When the couple was on the show, their co-stars believed Amelia’s feelings for Josh weren’t real, however, their beliefs have since changed.
“I think Josh and Amelia will really last,” fellow contestant Tayla told a local Australian publication this year.
“I think at first everyone had their doubts, but Amelia really is such a sweetheart and I see a proper connection between these two and I really think it will last.”
The winning contestant famously dumped Grant just two weeks after the show ended, following revelations that he had a secret girlfriend.
Love Island sees it’s ‘beautiful’ contestants living in isolation from the rest of the world over a number of weeks, so it’s no surprise that emotions become heightened and romances (however temporary) are ignited.
TV Blackbox confirmed the new season will premiere on Monday, October 7 at 8.45 pm on Nine.
Former Bachelorette Sophie Monk will be hosting, and Irish comic Eoghan McDermott will be narrating.
Sophie Monk shared two new trailers on her Instagram page. The first shows the blonde beauty sitting on a cloud and chatting to the Gold of Love – voiced by Eoghan – who says “we’ve got a big problem with love. There’s just not enough. Dating apps aren’t working… we need more love.”
“It’s all taken care of,” Sophie responds. “I’ve got the perfect place for falling in love. It’s an island… a love island.”
“God of Love, you can count on me,” she adds as she takes on the task of finding “loads of hot bodies” to join the island.
In the second teaser, Sophie plays the role of cupid as she sits in a support group for “beautiful people” looking for love.
“I try to wear clothes, it just doesn’t feel right,” says one shirtless hunk.
Another shares his own woes, “I know I am an 11 but to find another 11, we’re like unicorns.”
“I get 50,000 likes but all I really want is love,” another says.
Sophie then tells them “Beautiful people, I feel your pain and I am here to find you, love. Imagine an island with beautiful people.”
While the network is yet to reveal the cast, Dr Sam Hay’s wife— who’s a producer on Love Island Australia— told KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O show that they’re “Twice as good as last year. [That’s] mostly [based on] looks, because they haven’t actually sort of really sat down and had a chat with them.” Some interesting characters seem to be coming through, too.”
