Who doesn’t love a bit of deep-fried ice cream? It’s a favourite dessert for many Aussies – bringing back memories of heading to your local Chinese restaurant as a kid!Well now a clever Aussie home chef has come up with an ingenious way to make the classic dessert – using just two ingredients and an unlikely Kmart appliance!
Sharing her dish on the Kmart Air Fryer Recipes Facebook group, the savvy chef revealed she used store-bought ice-cream and crushed-up Crunchy Nut cereal to make the treats in the $69 cult appliance.
She writes: ‘Air-fried ice cream! Ice cream scoops (cricket-ball-sized) sprinkled with cinnamon and rolled in crushed Crunchy Nut cereal or corn flakes.
‘Frozen for four hours or until hard. Pre-heated for five minutes at 200 degrees, cooked for four minutes at same temperature, baking paper underneath. Crunchy coating, frozen ice cream’. She added that it was best to ‘freeze the balls for as long as possible’ and to ‘cook for 2-3 minutes or check regularly to prevent melting.’The ingenious recipe went down a treat with the group’s other followers, attracting thousands of likes and comments.Said one: ‘Oh my good god, that looks amazing.’ Added another: ‘I think I’ve just died and gone to heaven, this is a game changer.’We have too!
