If you’re putting together a basket for a special loved one, or you just want to share a collection of holiday-themed chocolates with friends, these mouth-watering desserts hold just the right amount of sweetness.

From hot cross bun boas (a steamed bun that has filling), to hot cross bun gin, there are plenty of twists to try out this holiday – each equally creative as the next.

So we’ve narrowed it down to a few favourites the whole family will love.

Hot Cross CroissantIt comes hot on the heels of Banksia Bakehouse’s all-new Cramington (hybrid Lamington Croissant), with the Hot Cross Croissant crafted from croissant dough moulded into a cube shape, using a special cake mould. With its crisp outer pastry “shell” featuring an icing cross on top, inside is a centre of cinnamon crème patisserie with uniquely-Australian Sunmuscat sultanas.As with many of the bakehouse’s patisserie items, the Hot Cross Croissant incorporates ingredients from Aussie producers – in this case, Sunmuscat sultanas from Tabletop Grapes, a family-owned farm in Billabong, Mildura, Victoria.The Hot Cross Croissant is available during April, Monday to Friday from 7am to 4.30pm from Banksia Bakehouse, Grosvenor Place Piazza, 225 George Street, Sydney.

Easter Cocktail KitsIn partnership with booze delivery service Cocktail Porter, Gelato Messina has packaged up a couple of DIY cocktail kits inspired by its famous flavours for Easter.You’ve got two different cocktail kits to choose from: the dulce de leche and coffee cocktail with Baileys Irish Creme, cold drip coffee and Mr Black liqueur, ready to be poured into a chocolate egg and topped with crunchy popcorn and a hefty drizzle of dulce de leche sauce.Alternatively, you can try an Espresso Martini poured into a chocolate bunny. It’s a blend of Ketel One Vodka, filter coffee by Seven Golds and more Mr Black.You can order online at Cocktail Porter – the mini kit is $80 and the large pack is $140, and they deliver Australia-wide.

Meltdown Artisan Easter EggIn a new temptation for those of you that have quite the sweet tooth, Mr Black is offering dark chocolate Easter eggs filled with coffee liqueur caramel. They’re the ideal option if you don’t want to choose between a boozy beverage and chocolate.The Mr Black Easter eggs were invented in collaboration with chocolatier Meltdown Artisan, and cost $20 each.Both Mr Black and Meltdown Artisan are selling them.

Hot Cross Bun BaoDin Tai Fung is dishing up something rather intriguing this Easter, with its new hot cross bun bao. On the outside, each one looks like a normal hot cross bun – except they’re made with steamed bread. And, instead of raisins, they’re filled with molten chocolate.The bao is only available for a limited time at all Din Tai Fung restaurants and food court outlets in Sydney, as well as in Melbourne, where you can find it at Emporium Melbourne. They can also be purchased for online delivery in frozen form.They’ll cost you $5.80 for two in-store, and $8 for three in frozen packs.

Hot Cross Bun GinAldi also recently announced it’s limited edition Hot Cross Bun gin liqueur as part of its Easter Special Buys range.The tasty tipple is infused with a host of warming spices, including nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. It was crafted with the traditional spices found in your favourite Easter treat, and you can simply mix with soda, sparkling wine or serve on the rocks.The Hot Cross Bun Gin Liqueur was released as part of Aldi’s special buys range for $19.99 a bottle.
