Fans of the iconic 90’s golf comedy film Happy Gilmore starring Adam Sandler finally have their first look at the highly anticipated sequel.
Netflix first shared the news about Happy Gilmore 2 at an upfront event in New York in May 2024 and confirmed that Adam Sandler would return to his role from the 1996 film as the hockey-turned-golf player ‘Happy Gilmore’.
Rumours of a Happy Gilmore sequel first began to circulate in March 2024 when Christopher McDonald, who played Shooter McGavin in the first film, said that a second film was in the works during his appearance on Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan radio show.
At the time, fans took it with a grain of salt, but it wasn’t until Drew Barrymore texted Adam while shooting an episode of her talk show, that he confirmed that the new film was “in process.”

Who is starring in Happy Gilmore 2?
While the plot for Happy Gilmore 2 has been kept tightly under wraps, we do have an idea of which characters will be making an appearance on the golfing green.
In September 2024, Adam posted a picture of a jersey from the film on Instagram and said: “It ain’t over. The way I see it… we’ve only just begun” – subsequently confirming his return.
Along with Adam, Happy Gilmore stars Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, and Christopher McDonald are also returning.

There are also some fresh faces who will feature in the sequel. Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, who is known as Bad Bunny, Blake Clark, Travis Kelce, Conor Sherry, Ethan Cutowsky, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Philip Fine Schneider, and Adam’s daughters Sadie and Sunny Sandler also join the cast.
Given the movie is about golf, it’s only fitting that professional golfers are also joining in. They include John Daly, Paige Spiranac, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, and Will Zalatoris.
In a behind-the-scenes video posted by Netflix, they were spotted on set and laughing with Adam.
