Missy Higgins had literally everyone in a frenzy when she accidentally confirmed when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal baby due date is after saying the Duchess of Sussex was four months pregnant at the time.
Turns out she made it up.
The iconic Aussie singer dropped by The Project when she confessed the little mishap.
Higgins had posted a snap shot of her interaction from her meeting with the pregnant royal.
While the sweet photo showed Higgins, her daughter baby Luna happily chatting to Meghan, it was the caption that grabbed everyones’ attention.
“What an honour to meet the beautiful Duchess today,” she began.
“She was such a sweetheart. I said I felt sorry for her having to do all these meet-and-greets while 4 months pregnant,” she innocently wrote, not knowing every news outlet in the world would pick up on it.
Continuing, “What a trooper. Prince Harry was gorgeous too, a real charmer. He squeezed Luna’s legs and said ‘Who’s this little cutie?’ Looking forward to telling Luna she slept through it all one day ? ? ????”
“I just made it up,” she told Monday’s episode of The Project.
“I read somewhere that people had worked out that she was three-to-four months pregnant because she said she was due in the Spring.
“So I just wrote that without even thinking, because I thought, ‘everyone knows she’s about four months’ pregnant,’ and then it was all over newspapers in England and France. Yeah no, we weren’t hanging out like best buds and she wasn’t telling me her deepest secrets.”
Despite the slip up, Higgins was clearly impressed by the royals.
“She was just asking about Luna and how it’s all going and you know, she was super sweet,” she recalled.
“And then we met Harry afterwards and he squeezed Luna’s little chubby legs and said ‘who’s this little cutie’ and he made some joke about never having being seen in the same room as Ed Sheeran because they’re both redheads — he was charming!”
