This 22-year-old from Perth is doing amazing – and delicious – things.
Joe Ahern has been dubbed “Retro Joe” by his fellow MasterChef 2019 contestants after whipping up a mouth-watering “braised chicken in marsala cream, with mushrooms and pancetta.”

A digital production assistant, this year’s young gun has no desire to return to his day-to-day job, and instead “dreams of one day studying in Italy or France before returning to the beautiful Margaret River south of Perth where he can showcase his skills in his own restaurant,” according to his MasterChef bio.
Now this is a restaurant we want a booking at.
Naming Heston Blumenthal and Thomas Keller has his culinary heroes, Joe does admit that sweet treats could be his downfall in the competition.
You may have also noticed that Joe isn’t camera shy. It helps that he played a zombie in a John Butler Trio music video!
And what’s more, his interests don’t just start and end with food.
“Away from the kitchen Joe enjoys spending time with his girlfriend Lauren,” his bio reads.
Plus, “playing the guitar, heading to the beach, and watching films – with A Clockwork Orange a firm favourite.”
