Jimmy Barnes officially returned to the stage at Bluesfest Bryon Bay on March 31, 2024, for the first time since recovering from open heart surgery.
WATCH: Jimmy Barnes makes shocking announcement.
Jimmy previously shared a health update prior to his return, posting a photo to Instagram, all smiles while holding his guitar.
โItโs our last day in this paradise,โ Jimmy wrote following a beautiful holiday in Thailand.โAside from working on my fitness and health, these holidays have given me time to create.
โIโve written a couple of new songs and 10 short stories. 46 laps today just to make sure 1km swim wasnโt a one-off.โ

Jane admitted in her own update to Instagram that this holiday would have been impossible three months prior.
โThanks for your commitment to healing and being the best that you can be. What a pleasure itโs been to share this time with you,โ she wrote.
The Flame Trees singer is currently undergoing physical rehab following heart surgery, recently reaching a swimming goal of 1km.
Throughout Jimmyโs recovery, Jane has confessed she keeps โchecking (his) blood pressure to reassure (herself) that everything is healing wellโ.
โThankfully, the numbers are good,โ she told fans.

Jimmy has been training hard in anticipation of his on-stage return at the end of this month. The 67-year-old will be performing at the Flesh and Wood 30th anniversary show at Blue Fest, Byron Bay.
โI canโt wait to get back on stage, in front of the band and playing for you all,โ he wrote in an Instagram post revealing the exciting news.
Jimmy first announced that he needed to undergo open heart surgery on December 13th, 2023.
โDespite everyoneโs best efforts the bacterial infection Iโve been battling over the last fortnight has apparently now spread to my heart,โ he wrote at the time.
He shared that the open-heart surgery would evidently โtake [him] out of action for a while.โ

Just a few weeks before his health started to go downhill, Jimmy was the fittest heโd been in decades.
โThis has all happened very suddenly so itโs going to take a few days for everyone to figure out whatโs going to be doable with my upcoming shows,โ he wrote.
โIโm really sorry for all the inconvenience this will cause but please be patient while my team works hard to figure things out. A new plan will be announced as soon as possible.โ
At the start of this year, Jimmy reflected on how โchallengingโ 2023 had been, and how thankful he was for his support system.

โThe difficult times have made me realize how lucky I am to be surrounded by my beautiful family and as I sit here in my bed recovering from surgery,โ he wrote.
โI am thankful to all the amazing people who have been a part of our lives and to everyone who has sent well wishes and cheered me on throughout the year.โ
A month later, Jimmy shared a promising health update.
โIโm pleased to report that my post-spinal surgery MRI shows up all clear,โ the rocker wrote. โPhysio has to support front and back healing so walking continues and more focus on core strength begins.โ

The legendary Australian rock legend was first hospitalised with bacterial pneumonia, a potentially deadly infection, in November.
He was hooked to an IV for 36 hours in an effort to help his body recover from the ailment, which can cause respiratory failure, sepsis, lung abscesses and even death if left untreated.
This came over a year after the Cold Chisel front-man was forced to undergo emergency hip surgery.
After more than 50 years of โjumping off PAs and stomping around stagesโ, the music icon developed chronic hip and back issues, ultimately forcing him to cancel his scheduled 2022/2023 summer tour, and instead spend those months on bed rest recovering.
