Casey Donovan and her girlfriend Renee Sharples have officially announced they are engaged!
The 2004 Australian Idol winner shared the happy news to Instagram on June 22, 2024.
“21.06.24 on the strawberry moon of the winter solstice the love of my life asked me if I wanted to do this life together forever,” she penned.
“‘The day I met you, home was no longer a place it became a person and yes, you are a gypsy but there’s nobody else I would rather attach my wagon to on this beautiful road trip called life’ and with that, I said yes! ?.”
The Australian singer, songwriter, actress and author, 36, first met Renee, after matching on dating app Bumble during the pandemic.
“I was nervous and excited to make a connection with Renee, and when we finally connected her banter was great and she seemed very lovely,” Casey previously told our sister publication Woman’s Day.
Casey and Renee, who is a lecturer in paramedicine, hit it off instantly, and spent hours on the phone and setting up video dates on Zoom.
“When I logged into our first Zoom date and saw that Renee had set it up in a cafe, it was so sweet… [it was] even better when she asked me what kind of coffee I wanted,” Casey told the publication.
Back in 2021, when the couple celebrated officially being together for one year, Casey uploaded a series of photos of herself with Renee, and penned a sweet message dedicated to her partner.
“Happy One Year Baby! You have brought so much more joy, happiness and laughter into my life!” she wrote on Instagram.
“You have opened my eyes, heart and soul to what love is supposed to feel like and I will be forever grateful that our paths crossed!”
The Australian Idol alum went on to add: “Time flies when you’re having fun ? I love you @nayray.sharp.”
The photos shared an insight into their relationship, with the couple having captured candid moments of them on adventures and having a good time.
Some of the featured snaps included the two with their adorable matching set of pyjamas, nights in with a face mask, and of them performing music together.
The couple share a passion and love for music and performing and even performed together at a festival in 2021 and Casey used it as an opportunity to dedicate another post to Renee.
“I got to share the stage with the most beautiful, kind, caring, supportive, understanding, funny, loving, talented, passionate, boss lady of a partner Renee @nayray.sharp,” she penned.
“You are beyond magnificent and I am so happy we stumbled upon each other ? Sharing music with you has never felt so right and I cannot thank you enough for all the joy you have added to my life and I am completely amazed by you every single day!”
