Who doesn’t love a kebab? Well forget trudging down to the local takeaway to pick some up for the family – you can now make them at home for a fraction of the price..Slow cooker fans are now making Doner Kebabs in their trusty appliances – and they’re getting rave reviews!
First published by the hugely popular Slow Cooker Recipe & Tips Facebook page, the recipe has now gone viral with people all over the country whipping up the takeaway favourite at home.
Sharing the recipe in a post, the Facebook page says: ‘Don’t buy your take away kebabs/gyros … slow cook them!’
To make the kebab meat, you’ll need lamb mince, mixed herbs, onion salt, garlic powder, salt and pepper – head here for the exact measurements.
Then you need to mix the ingredients ‘very very very well together’, roll the mixture into a loaf shape and wrap it in baking paper or foil.The Facebook page then says to place the loaf directly into your slow cooker – no liquid required. You can then either cook the meat on low for 5-6 hours or high for 3-4 hours.Says Slow Cooker Recipe & Tips: ‘When cooked, let rest for 10-15 mins.Slice thinly.‘Serve with lettuce, tomato, red onion, cheese and sauce of your choice (we like tzatziki with lamb).‘Roll up in Lebanese bread, put in sandwich press to crisp up the bread and melt the cheese.
