The My Kitchen Rules semi-final was full of tears for Romel, who feared the worst when he and cooking partner Ibby stumbled at the first hurdle, very nearly ruining their chances of winning the competition.
But all ended well as Pete and Manu awarded the duo a spot in the highly anticipated My Kitchen Rules Grand Final, in what will be the first ever all-male showdown.

Appearing on Sunrise this morning, Romel conceded that his emotions often get the better of him.
“It was probably one of the hardest cooks of my entire life, and we went into that kitchen knowing this was either going to get us into the grand finals or it was going to see us out.
“So when we stuffed up our entrée I just thought ‘we are done’.”
“I wear my heart on my sleeve,” Romel continued, “I can’t hide my emotions, so if I’m upset, you’ll know I’m upset. I just felt those tears kind of welling up and I just thought I need to go an hide.”
Host Natalie Barr then asked the more level-headed Ibby about why he believes their team should win.
“Because we’ve given this competition everything we have,” Ibby shared.
“I’m not going to say its because we worked the hardest because I think Matt and Luke worked just as hard as we did throughout the competition, but we gave it everything”
Although Sunday night’s Grand Final is set to be one of the biggest nights in television, Ibby and Romel looked a picture of calm, evem joking around with host Nat about swapping recipes.
“Before you go, can I get the fish in the pastry recipe because that looked amazing,” asked a smiling Nat.
“Done”, Romel replied.
