If so, you could be responsible for your children doing worse at school and struggling socially and emotionally, according to a child expert.


Paediatric occupational therapist Victoria Prooday says she is seeing a marked change in children’s behaviours due to parents neglecting to set boundaries.


“Throughout my ten years as an occupational therapist, I have seen and continue to see a decline in kids’ social, emotional, academic functioning,” she wrote. “As well as a sharp increase in learning disabilities and other diagnoses.”

She also says we are trying to please children too much and neglecting to say “no”.


Likewise, we are creating a world of “endless fun” where kids are never bored.


These are the five key mistakes she says parents are making:

 
Not restricting technology

Not saying “no”.


Worrying about their happiness all the time.

 
Not letting them get bored.


Thinking they always have to be having fun.
