A tattoo artist who inks sick children to give them a “confidence boost” has revealed what inspires him to make kids happy.
Benjamin Lloyd designs ink sleeves to spray on kids’ arms with a non-toxic ink that easily washes off.
The New Zealand man, who goes to a children’s hospital to “tattoo” the kids says he started after his stepson, aged seven, passed away two years ago.
He says it takes about nine minutes to complete a “tattoo” with a stencil and spray.
“The kids are so amazed,” he said. “As soon as they get the tattoo it boosts their confidence. “The only bad thing is that they don’t want to shower afterwards.”
Benjamin has also revealed that he started inking after he was bullied at school over a burn on his hand. “I was teased every day at school and so I would draw over my hand and up my sleeve,” he said. “I just got better and better, eventually I had a line up of people wanting me to draw on them. I was doing deals with kids swapping cards and marbles.”
